3.1 The Diagnostic Test 3 Tests and Diagnostics 3 Tests and Diagnostics 3.1 The Diagnostic Test This chapter explains how to use the Diagnostic Test programs to test the functions of the computer's hardware modules. The Diagnostics Programs are stored on some Diagnostic Disks. There are Service Program Modules (DIAGNOSTIC MENU) and the Test Program Modules (DIAGNOSTIC TEST MENU) on the Diagnostic Disk. The Hardware Initial information Setting Tool consists of some programs which writes the hardware information or displays the current information of the computer. It is also included in one of Diagnostic Disks. NOTE: To start the diagnostics, follow these steps: 1. Check all cables for loose connections. 2. Exit any application and close Windows. 3.1.1 Diagnostics menu The DIAGNOSTIC MENU consists of the following functions. q DIAGNOSTIC TEST q HEAD CLEANING q LOG UTILITIES q RUNNING TEST q FDD UTILITIES q SYSTEM CONFIGURATION q SETUP The DIAGNOSTIC TEST MENU contains the following functional tests: q SYSTEM TEST q MEMORY TEST q KEYBOARD TEST q DISPLAY TEST q FLOPPY DISK TEST q PRINTER TEST q ASYNC TEST q HARD DISK TEST q REAL TIMER TEST q NDP TEST q EXPANSION TEST q CD-ROM/DVD-ROM TEST Other tests are: Satellite A50/TECRA A2 Maintenance Manual (960-478) 3-1
