Toshiba Pocket PC e800/e805 User's Guide Glossary for Bluetooth General Bluetooth terms Bluetooth Passkey This is a password. It is also called a PIN Code. Device Address Each Bluetooth SD Card has a unique device address that is listed on the card as BDA:XXX... X. Local Device In Bluetooth communications, this refers to the local Toshiba Pocket PC. It is also called a client. Remote Device In Bluetooth communications, this refers to the connected partner device. It is also called a server. Profile This refers to the specifications (services) used in Bluetooth communications. The specifications (services) are determined by the type of communications. Graphical User Interface (GUI) Bluetooth terms Auto Connect ■ For a COM service, the program using COM is started and a connec- tion is established with the connection registered Bluetooth device using the Serial Port Profile. ■ For a DUN service, Dial-up Networking is started and a connection is established with the connection registered Bluetooth device using the Dial-up Networking Profile. Ghost This is a device that was previously discovered, but is no longer found during the search for peripheral devices. Discovered This is a device discovered during the search for peripheral devices. Search for Peripheral Devices This function is used to search for Bluetooth-enabled devices.
