Direct wire strain relief: 14. Attach direct wire strain relief 4-wire Direct WIRE Connection Prepare your 4-wire cable for direct connection: IMPORTANT: A 4-wire connection is required for mobile homes and where local codes do not permit 3-wire connections. 16. Prepare your 4-wire cable for direct connection (251"mm) Unscrew removable conduit connector and any screws from a 3/4" (19 mm) UL listed strain relief (UL marking on strain relief). Put threaded section of strain relief through hole below terminal block opening, screw removable conduit connector onto strain relief threads. 15. Attach direct wire cable to strain relief (127 5" mm) Direct wire cable must have 5 ft. (1.52 m) of extra length so dryer may be moved if needed. Strip 5" (127 mm) of outer covering from end of cable, leaving bare ground wire at 5" (127 mm). Cut 11/2" (38 mm) from remaining 3 wires. Strip insulation back 1" (25 mm). Shape ends of wires into hooks. 17. Connect wires to terminal block Put direct wire cable through strain relief. Strain relief should be a tight fit with dryer cabinet and be in a horizontal position. Tighten strain relief screw against direct wire cable. Now go to step 14 for 4-wire direct wire connection, step 20 for 3-wire direct wire connection, or step 25 for optional 3-wire connection. To connect wires to terminal block, place hooked end of wire under terminal block screw, facing to the right, squeeze hooked end together and tighten screw. 18. Prepare to connect neutral ground wire and neutral wire B E A Remove center, silver-colored terminal block screw (B). Remove neutral ground wire (E) from external ground conductor screw (A). 11
