BASIC OPERATION Additional operations ■ Listening with headphones using SILENT CINEMA SILENT CINEMA allows you to enjoy multi-channel music or movie sound, including Dolby Digital and DTS sources, through ordinary headphones. SILENT CINEMA activates automatically whenever you connect headphones to the PHONES jack while listening to CINEMA DSP or HiFi DSP sound field programs (see page 31). When activated, the SILENT CINEMA indicator lights up in the front panel display. Notes • SILENT CINEMA does not activate when the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks is selected as the input source. • SILENT CINEMA is not effective when "2CH STEREO" (see page 31) is selected or when this unit is in the "STRAIGHT" mode (see page 33). • The sound from the LFE channel will be mixed and output from the headphones. ■ Muting the audio output Press MUTE on the remote control to mute the audio output. Press MUTE again to resume the audio output. MUTE PLAYBACK ■ Selecting the MULTI CH INPUT component as the input source Use this feature to select the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks (see page 16) as the input source. Press MULTI CH INPUT on the front panel (or MULTI CH IN on the remote control) so that "MULTI CH INPUT" appears in the front panel display. MULTI CH INPUT Front panel MULTI CH IN or Remote control Note When "MULTI CH INPUT" is shown in the front panel display, no other source can be played. To select another input source with INPUT l / h on the front panel (or one of the input selector buttons on the remote control), press MULTI CH INPUT (or MULTI CH IN on the remote control) so that "MULTI CH INPUT" disappears from the front panel display. ■ Using the night listening mode The night listening mode is designed to improve listenability at lower volumes or at night. Press AMP on the remote control and then press NIGHT to select "NIGHT ON". y • You can also rotate VOLUME on the front panel or VOLUME +/- on the remote control to resume the audio output. • You can adjust the muting level by using "AUDIO MUTE" in "OPTION MENU" (see page 56). • The MUTE indicator flashes in the front panel display when the audio output is muted and disappears from the front panel display when the audio output is resumed. Note If you change the input source or the sound field program while the audio output is being muted, this unit resumes the audio output. AMP NIGHT +10 y When a night listening mode is selected, the NIGHT indicator lights up in the front panel display. Listening with headphones using
SILENT CINEMA
SILENT CINEMA allows you to enjoy multi-channel
music or movie sound, including Dolby Digital and DTS
sources, through ordinary headphones. SILENT CINEMA
activates automatically whenever you connect headphones
to the PHONES jack while listening to CINEMA DSP or
HiFi DSP sound field programs (see page 31). When
activated, the SILENT CINEMA indicator lights up in the
front panel display.
SILENT CINEMA does not activate when the component
connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks is selected as the
input source.
SILENT CINEMA is not effective when “2CH STEREO” (see
page 31) is selected or when this unit is in the “STRAIGHT”
mode (see page 33).

Muting the audio output
Press MUTE on the remote control to mute the
audio output.
Press MUTE again to resume the audio output.

You can also rotate VOLUME on the front panel or VOLUME
+/– on the remote control to resume the audio output.
You can adjust the muting level by using “AUDIO MUTE” in
“OPTION MENU” (see page 56).
The MUTE indicator flashes in the front panel display when the
audio output is muted and disappears from the front panel
display when the audio output is resumed.
If you change the input source or the sound field program while
the audio output is being muted, this unit resumes the audio
output.
Selecting the MULTI CH INPUT
component as the input source
Use this feature to select the component connected to the
MULTI CH INPUT jacks (see page 16) as the input
source.
Press MULTI CH INPUT on the front panel (or
MULTI CH IN on the remote control) so that
“MULTI CH INPUT” appears in the front panel
display.
When “MULTI CH INPUT” is shown in the front panel display,
no other source can be played. To select another input source with
