Automatic Transmission Operation There are several different positions for your shift lever. I It is dangerous to get out your vehicle if the of shift leveris not fully in PARK with the (P) parking brake firmly set. Your vehiclecan roll. Don't leave yourvehicle when the engineis running unless you haveto. If you have left the engine running, the vehicle can move suddenly. You or others could be injured. be sure your To vehicle won't move, even when you're on fairly level ground, always set your parking brake and move the shift lever to PARK (P). See "Shifting Into PARK (P)"in the Index. If you're pulling a trailer, "Towing a Trailer'' in see the Index. PARK (P): This locks your rear wheels.
