Headlight aim (fig. 99) E To check the headlight aim, place the motorcycle upright with the tyres inflated to the correct pressure and one person sitting astride the motorcycle. The motorcycle should be perfectly vertical, with its longitudinal axis at right angles to a wall or screen at a distance of 10 metres. Draw a horizontal line on the wall at the height of the centre of the headlight and a vertical one in line with the longitudinal axis of the motorcycle. If possible, perform this check in conditions of low ambient light. Switch on the low beam headlight: the upper edge between the dark area and the lit area should not be above 9/10th of the height of the headlamp centre from the ground. 9 x 10 10 m x fig. 99 Notes This is the procedure specified by Italian regulations for checking the maximum height of the light beam. Owners in other countries should adapt this procedure to the regulations in force in the country where the motorcycle is used. 92
