Maintenance and care 4. Use only brake fluids certified to meet Ford specifications. Refer to Lubricant specifications in the Capacities and specifications chapter. Use only DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid from a sealed container. Note: for service, Ford recommends the use of Super DOT 4 brake fluid (Ford specification Delta ESD M6C57 A) for all vehicles equipped with manual transaxles. Brake fluid is toxic. If you use DOT 5 or any other brake fluid that is not DOT 3 or DOT 4, you will cause permanent damage to your brakes. Do not let the reservoir for the master cylinder run dry. This may cause the brakes to fail. 190
