Carrying Cargo 2. Determine the combined weight of the driver and passengers that will be riding in the vehicle. (Five is seating capacity of your vehicle.) 3. Subtract the combined weight of the driver and passengers from 850 lbs (395 kg). 4. The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo and luggage load capacity. For example, if there will be four 150 lbs (70 kg) occupants in your vehicle, the amount of available cargo and luggage load capacity is 250 lbs (115 kg). 4 150 lbs (70 kg) = 600 lbs (280 kg) 850 lbs (395 kg) 600 lbs (280 kg) = 250 lbs (115 kg) 5. Determine the combined weight of accessories, luggage, and cargo being loaded in the vehicle. The weight may not safely exceed the available cargo and luggage load capacity calculated in step 4 [250 lbs (115 kg) in this example]. 6.
