SAFE OPERATION 97 WARNING HAZARD Inattentive operation in "R" (Reverse). Backing up without looking where you are going. WHAT CAN HAPPEN Inattentive operation in "R" (Reverse) could cause you to hit a person or obstacle behind you, resulting in severe personal injury or death. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD Before shifting into "R" (Reverse), make sure there are no people or obstacles behind you, and then proceed at a safe speed. Always look where you are going, whether forward or in reverse. Remember: Look behind you before backing up. Open the throttle gradually. To stop, gradually apply the brakes. Riding in "4WD" "4WD" gives greater traction when you are climbing steep inclines, or driving on bumpy, sandy or slippery surfaces. If maximum torque is needed in these situations, shift into the low position with the shift lever. Refer to the "Shift Lever" section and "2WD/4WD Shifting", "Variable Limited Slip Front Differential," and "Shifting Gears" sections. j WARNING HAZARD Changing from "2WD" to "4WD" or from "4WD" to "2WD" while ATV is moving.
