Engine Oil Level Warning Light When the CHECK OIL warning light comes on, it indicates that the engine oil level is 1 to 1 1/2 quarts (0.95 L to 1.4 L) low. CHECK OIL If the warning light comes on after 15 to25 second the delay, checkthe dipstick level.If it reads low,the engine oil should be brought up the proper level (see "Engine to Oil" in the Index). The warning light or message will remain off after the engine has been brought the oil to proper level and the ignition has been eight off for minutes. The eight-minute delay allows majority of the the oil to drain back into the pan to prevent a oil false low condition. If the level is okay, the oil warning light will remainoff. The LOWWASH warning light will come on when the ignition ison and the fluid container is less than one-third full.
