CONTROLS AND FEATURES Controls Recoil Starter If the battery is weak and cannot start the engine, use of the recoil starter located on the right side of the machine will allow vehicle operation until repairs can be made. 1. Be certain the parking brake is set. See page 42. 2. Grasp the recoil starter tightly and pull slightly until the starter mechanism engages. 3. Pull the rope abruptly to start the engine. Recoil Starter CAUTION Do not extend the starter rope so far that it stops This will cause damage to the recoil assembly. Make sure the manual start handle is fully seated on the recoil housing, especially when travelling in wet areas. If it is not sealed properly, water may enter the recoil housing and damage components. 46
