MAINTENANCE Spark Arrester Periodically clean the spark arrester to remove accumulated carbon. A plugged spark arrester will affect engine performance. Clean the spark arrester daily when driving in mud and water. Replace a cracked or damaged arrester before operating. 1. Remove the arrester retaining bolt and nut. 2. Remove the arrester from the end of the muffler. 3. Use a non-synthetic brush to clean the arrester screen. A synthetic brush may melt if components are warm. If necessary, blow debris from the screen with compressed air. 4. Inspect the screen for wear and damage. Replace a worn or damaged screen. 5. Reinstall the arrester. Torque bolt to 9-11 ft. lbs. damaged arrester before operating.
1.
Remove the arrester retaining bolt and nut.
2.
Remove the arrester from the end of the muffler.
3.
Use a non-synthetic brush to clean the arrester screen. A synthetic
brush may melt if components are warm. If necessary, blow debris
from the screen with compressed air.
4.
Inspect the screen for wear and damage. Replace a worn or
damaged screen.
5.
Reinstall the arrester. Torque bolt to 9-11 ft. lbs. (12-15 Nm).
