Maintenance Schedule Section C: Periodic Maintenance Inspections Listed below are inspections and services which should be performed at least twice a year (for instance, each spring and fall). You should let your GM dealer'sservice department or other qualified service center do these jobs. Make sure any necessary repairs are completed at once. ~~ INSPECTION OR SERVICE WHAT SHOULD BE DONE Steering, Suspension and Front-Wheel-Drive Axle Boot and Seal Inspection Exhaust System Inspection Inspect the front and rear suspension and steering system for damaged, loose missing parts, or signs of wear, or lack of lubrication. Inspect the power steering lines and hoses for proper hookup, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Clean and then inspect the drive axle seals for boot damage, tears or leakage. Replace seals if necessary. Inspect the complete exhaust system. Inspect body near the exhaust system. Look for broken, the damaged, missing or out-of-position parts as well as open seams, holes, loose connections,or other conditions which couldcause a heat build-upin the floor panor could let exhaust fumes into the vehicle. See the Index under Engine Exhaust. Inspect the throttle linkage for interferenceor binding, and for damagedor missing parts. Replace parts as needed. Inspect the complete system. Inspect brake lines and hoses for proper hookup, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspectdisc brake pads for wear and rotors for surface condition. Inspect other brake parts, including calipers, parking brake, etc. Check parking brake adjustment. You may need to have your brakes inspected moreoften if your driving habits conditions result in or frequent braking. Note: A low brake fluid levelcan indicate worn disc brake pads whichmay need to be serviced. Also, if the brake system warning light stays or comes on, something may be wrong with the on brake system. See the I d e x under Brake System Warning Light. If your vehicle is equipped with anti-lock brakes andthe anti-lock brake system warning light stays comes on or flashes, on, Index under Anti-Lock Brake something may be wrong withthe anti-lock brake system.
