VGA Connector (16 pin VGACON) To use the onboard VGA, you must attach the provided VGA cable to this connector and mount the bracket to the system cabinet on a free expansion slot or remove the bracket and mount to the system cabinet's serial port opening. The VGA cable then provides a standard 15-pin D-Sub connector for a monitor. 1 2 Orient the red stripe on the monitor cable with pin 1 15 16 R VGA (Monitor) Connector Bracket to end approximately 6inch TIP: You may also remove the bracket connectors and mount them directly to the case to save expansion slot space. 8. VGA Memory Upgrade Sockets This baseboard comes with 1MB VGA memory. Two sockets are provided to upgrade the VGA memory to 2MB by adding two EDO DRAM's. Socket's cut corner Small indentation on the chip's sloped edge R VGA Memory Sockets Each chip is 512KB DRAM. Two chips must be installed to increase the VGA memory by 1MB. NOTE: The indentations are shown white for visibility, they are normally black. Match the small indentation on the chip's sloped edge with the socket's cut corner. Place the chip flat and evenly into the socket and press firmly but carefully so that the chip enters evenly. When installed, the chip should be flush with the socket. ASUS P/I-P65UP8 User's Manual 27
