Maintenance: Clearing a Clog 1 Remove dirt tank and check suction inlet located on body of vacuum for debris. 2 Grasp upper hose end and twist elbow counterclockwise to remove. Remove lower hose end by pulling it from vacuum base. Unclog by inserting a "blunt" object, like a broom handle, into hose to dislodge blockage. Do not use sharp objects. NOTE: If clog persists, follow the floor brush roll maintenance steps on page 8 and inspect air passageways for obstructions. Troubleshooting Problem Vacuum cleaner won't turn on Possible causes Blown fuse/tripped breakers in home Remedies Check/replace fuse or reset breaker Vacuum cleaner won't pick up dirt Hose not attached to foot suction opening Crack or hole in hose Broken or stretched drive belt Rotating floor brush bristles worn Rotating floor brush jammed Filters are dirty Clog in vacuum Grasp quick reach handle and firmly push hose wand onto the suction opening Check hose and replace if needed Replace drive belt, see page 9 Replace brush Remove brush and clean debris from brush ends Check and clean pre-motor and post-motor filters, see page 7-8 Follow instructions on page 9 for clearing clogs Tools won't pick up Dirt container or upper tank not installed properly Filters are dirty Clog in vacuum Position correctly and lock in place Check and clean pre-motor and post-motor filters, see page 7-8 Follow instructions on page 9 for clearing clogs Visible dirt escaping from cleaner Dirt container full Filters missing or installed incorrectly Empty dirt container Check pre-motor and post-motor filters for correct installation Vacuum cleaner difficult to push Incorrect height adjustment Adjust powerfoot to correct height setting Cord will not Knotted or twisted retract Follow instructions on page 6 10 www.BISSELL.com
