GETTING READY Pulling up the bobbin thread When making gathers or before free-motion quilting, first pull up the bobbin thread as described below. Insert the bobbin into the bobbin case. a • Refer to steps a through e of "Installing the bobbin" (page 26). Pass the bobbin thread through the slot. b Do not cut the thread with the cutter. Turn on the sewing machine. c While lightly holding the upper thread with d your left hand with the needle in the up- position, press (needle position button) twice to lower and raise the needle. Pull out about 10 cm (4 inches) of the bobbin f thread under the presser foot toward the rear of the machine. Turn off the sewing machine. g Reattach the bobbin cover. h Insert the tab in the lower-left corner of the bobbin cover (A), and then lightly press down on the right side (B). Pulling up the bobbin thread
When making gathers or before free-motion quilting,
first pull up the bobbin thread as described below.

Insert the bobbin into the bobbin case.

Pass the bobbin thread through the slot.
Do not cut the thread with the cutter.

Turn on the sewing machine.

While lightly holding the upper thread with
your left hand with the needle in the up-
position, press
(needle position button)
twice to lower and raise the needle.

The bobbin thread is looped around the
upper thread and can be pulled up.

Carefully pull the upper thread upward to pull
out the end of the bobbin thread.

Pull out about 10 cm (4 inches) of the bobbin
thread under the presser foot toward the rear
of the machine.

Turn off the sewing machine.
h
Reattach the bobbin cover.
Insert the tab in the lower-left corner of the
bobbin cover (A), and then lightly press down
on the right side (B).
