Four different parameters enable you to create custom barcodes. PARAMETER SETTINGS PROTOCOL CODE 39, I-2/5, EAN13, EAN8, UPC-A, UPC-E, CODE128 WIDTH (barcode width) LARGE, SMALL UNDER#S (characters printed below barcode) ON, OFF CH.DIG. (check digit) OFF, ON The default settings are CODE 39 PROTOCOL, LARGE WIDTH, UNDER#S set to ON, and CH.DIG. set to OFF.  It is recommended that barcodes be printed with the Tape margin function set to FULL and the barcode WIDTH parameter set to LARGE; otherwise, the barcodes may be difficult to read. To use the Barcode function: 1 Hold down c and press Y once.  To change the data or parameters of a barcode that has already been created, posi- tion the cursor below the right half of the barcode mark ( ) before holding down c and pressing Y. A block can only contain one barcode. If a barcode has already been entered in the block when c is held down and Y is pressed, the error message "1 BARCODE PER BLOCK!" appears. To quit the Barcode function without making any changes, hold down c and press Y. 2 Type in the new barcode data or edit the old data. To change the barcode parameter settings: 3 Press e.  To return to the barcode data without changing any parameter settings, press *. 4 Press f or w until the parameter that you wish to change appears. 5 Press e or h until the desired setting is displayed. 6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all parameters are set as you wish. 7 Press _. To add a special character to the barcode data: 8 Press f or w until the cursor is below the character immediately to the right of where you wish to add the special character. 9 Hold down c and press a. 0 Press e or h until the desired special character is displayed.  The following special characters can only be entered when using protocol CODE 39. 96
