Use a middleor lowerpositionwhenthearea to be clearedis uneven,such as a graveldriveway. NOTE:If you chooseto operatethe snowthroweron a gravelsurface, keepthe skid shoesin positionfor maximumclearancebetweenthe groundand the shaveplate. Operatinga snowthrowerequippedwith steelskid shoes may result in damageto naturalstonepaversurfaces(e.g.sandstone,bluestone,limestone). Forinformationon availablepolymerskid shoes, call 1-800-4MY-HOME. Toadjustthe skid shoes: 1. Loosenthe fourhex nuts (two on each side)and carriagebolts. Moveskid shoesto desiredposition.See Figure14. 2. Makecertain theentirebottomsurfaceof skid shoeis againstthe groundto avoidunevenwearon the skid shoes. 3. Retightennutsand bolts securely. Whentheauger controlis releasedand in the disengaged"up" position,the cableshouldhavevery little slack. It shouldNOTbe tight. 2. In a well-ventilatedarea,start the snowthrowerengine.Referto Startingthe Enginein the Operationsection. 3. Whilestandingin the operator'sposition(behindthe snow thrower),engagethe augers. 4. Allowtheaugersto remainengagedfor approximatelyten (10) secondsbeforereleasingthe augercontrol.Repeatthis several times. 5. With theauger controlin thedisengaged"up" position,walkto the front of the machine. 6. Confirmthat the augershavecompletelystoppedrotatingand f show NOsignsof motion.If anyauger showsANY signof / rotating,immediatelyreturnto the operator'spositionand shutoff J the engine.Waitfor ALL movingparts to stop beforeadjustingthe Figure15 augercontrol. 7. Toreadjustthecontrolcable, loosentheupper hexbolt on the augercablebracket.See Figure15. 8. Positionthe bracketupwardto providemoreslack(or downward to increasecabletension). 9. Retightenthe upperhex bolt. 10. Repeatsteps2-6 aboveto verifyproperadjustmenthasbeen achieved. 13
