Coin-Cell Battery Removing the Coin-Cell Battery CAUTION: Before you perform the following procedures, see the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide. NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside the computer. 1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 109. 2 Remove the hinge cover (see page 125). 3 Remove the keyboard (see page 127). 4 Use a plastic scribe to lift the battery upward to remove it from the system board. 1 1 coin-cell battery Replacing the Coin-Cell Battery When you replace the battery, insert it into the circular socket with the positive side up, and gently push it into place. 130 Adding and Replacing Parts
