The switch may be in any operational state (enabled or disabled) before rebooting. The following is an example of the fastboot command screen. switch:admin> fastboot Rebooting... firmwareDownload The firmwareDownload command downloads firmware into flash memory. This command can be executed on an operational switch. A reboot is required to initiate the new firmware after the download has completed. The following is an example of the firmwareDownload command screen. switch:admin> firmwareDownload "host","user","c:/ firmware/v2.0 1159196+194916+876016, csum 7eca writing flash 0...... download complete Firmware can be downloaded from a UNIX, Windows 95, or Windows NT host. For a UNIX host, no special software is needed. For Windows 95 or Windows NT host, the Dell PowerVault system utilities diskette provides a daemon to support a remote shell (RSH). A firmware download is executed via an RCP command running on top of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) between the switch and the host. To download the firmware, perform the following steps: 1.
