Back to Contents Page How to obtain the IP Address of the Access Point To browse to the Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point's web-based configuration tool, you must known the access point's IP address. The IP address of the access point can be either a static IP address or a dynamically assigned IP address. The default configuration for the access point is with a static IP address of 192.168.2.2. If the access point has been configured as a DHCP client, it will be dynamically assigned a IP address. In order to determine what this IP address is, use the following method. 1. Find the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the wired port of the access point. This information can be derived from the product label which is located on the underside of the access point . 2. The product label contains the MAC address of the WLAN port of the access point. The MAC address of the wired port is calculated by subtracting 0x1H from this address (i.e. If the MAC address on the product label is 00:90:4b:3c:12:10, then the MAC address of the wired port is 00:90:4b:3c:12:10 - 0x1 = 00:90:4b:3c:12:0f) 3. Provide your organisation's network administrator with your access point's wired port MAC address (calculated in step 2). 4. The network administrator will query the DHCP server using the MAC address to identify the IP address of the access point. Back to Contents Page
