Setting parental controls Parental controls let you prevent your children from watching inappropriate material on TV. When set, parental controls read the rating of the program (with some exceptions, such as news and sports) and deny access to programs that exceed the ratings level you select. To watch programs that exceed the selected rating, you must enter a password. Setting or changing the password To set the parental password: 1 Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens. 4 Press or to select the channel for which you want to add or change the label, the press to move the cursor to the label selection field. 5 Press or to select a character, then press or to move to the next position. Repeat to add more characters (you can add as many as 11 characters). 6 Press ENTER to confirm the label. 7 Press or to select Yes or No, then press ENTER to confirm. 8 Press MENU to return to the previous menu, or press EXIT to close the menu. Checking digital TV signal strength You can check the signal strength of digital channels to determine if you need to adjust your antenna or digital cable input. The higher the signal strength, the less likely you are to experience picture degradation. To check signal strength: 1 Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens. 2 Press or to highlight SETTINGS. The SETTINGS menu opens. 2 Press or to highlight CHANNELS. The CHANNELS menu opens. The signal strength is shown on the menu if you are receiving a digital TV signal. 3 Press or to highlight Parental Controls, then press ENTER or . The Enter Password screen opens. 3 Press MENU to return to the previous menu, or press EXIT to close the menu. Note: If you are tuned to a digital TV channel, you can press INFO to see the digital signal strength.
