16 Setting Surface Controls Setting the Perfect-Set™ cooktop The cooktop controls provide 5 digital display windows to help set power levels for the cooking zones located on the cooktop. These settings work the same way as traditional knob settings except the settings are made using a touch sensitive panel and show settings using LED style displays. Available cooktop settings Your cooktop control provides 15 different power level settings for each of the 5 cooking or heating zones (including the warming zone). These displays have keypads that allow the user to first activate (ON/OFF) the needed element and then to quickly turn that element ON using 3 preset power levels (lo, med or hi). - See Figs. 4 through 6 - In addition to the automatic settings, the + and keypads allows for more precise level adjustments between the automatic settings. Even after turning the surface controls off, the cooktop will remain hot for some time after use. The cooktop control monitors the temperature of the cooktop surface and displays the message hot surface when the cooktop is still too hot to touch -Fig. 1. If the hot surface message remains displayed, the heating zone may be set again and used for cooking. set for medium Fig. 5 set for high Fig. 6 • Radiant surface elements may appear to have cooled after they have been turned off. The glass surface may still be hot and burns may occur if the glass surface is touched before it has cooled sufficiently. Fig. 1 • Do not place plastic items such as salt and pepper shakers, spoon holders or plastic wrappings on top of the range when it is in use. These items could melt or ignite. Potholders, towels or wooden spoons could catch fire if placed too close to the surface elements.
