HTTPS Communication ✔ *6 ✔ *6 ✔ *6 ✔ *6 ✔ *6 ✔ *6 ✔ *6 ✔ *6 ✔ *6 Check the followings for HTTPS communication. • Prepare a certificate and secret key for the server, then register them to the printer. • Self-signed certificates can be created by TM-DT series devices with version 4.0 or later of the TM-DT software, TM-i series devices, and TM-T88VI devices. For instructions on how to create a self-signed certificate, see Technical Reference Guide of the printer. Name and common name of the self-signed certificate are the printer's IP address. • Common name of the server certificate and the host name of the printer must be the same. Otherwise, HTTPS communication will fail with an error. • Embed a CA (certificate authority) certificate, which is used to authenticate the CA signature on the server certificate, in your program. Otherwise, HTTPS communication will fail with an error. • When creating an iOS application, make sure to satisfy the requirements of ATS (App Transport Security). • Comply with requirements for HTTPS communication of your application development environment. • To send print data to the printer from an application on a HTTPS Web site, make sure to use HTTPS instead of HTTP to communicate with the printer. Otherwise, the communication will fail with an error. 16
