To install a hard drive: 1 Follow the instructions in "Preventing static electricity discharge" on page 29. Caution Before you remove a failed drive, use the appropriate software and utilities installed on the server to stop all activity on the failed drive. Instructions for using the software are provided by the software manufacturer. Failure to do so may destroy the data on the drive. 2 Follow the instructions in "Opening the server case" on page 30. 3 If you are replacing a hard drive, disconnect the data cable and power cable from the drive to be replaced. 4 Slide the drive release latch toward the open side of the case. 38 www.gateway.com
