7.1 Q&A 7. Q&A Q︰I am trying to install the GSmart MD800 onto another computer, but the software installation window is not open, nor is there an icon in My Computer, what can I do? A︰Vista / XP Click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Universal Series Bus controllers. Right-click USB Mass Storage Device and choose Enable. GSmart MD800 should now appear as a CDROM USB Device. The Install Shield Wizard should start to run automatically. If it does not, click on the MD800 ExpressCard icon in My Computer Q: Why does the main screen display No SIM card? A︰ Make sure that GSmart MD800 and SIM card are plugged in or inserted correctly. If it is, and No SIM card is still displayed, check the LED If the LED is not light up, the problem could be︰ - The USB cable or adapter casing is not functioning (if applicable) - GSmart MD800 is not slid correctly into the adapter casing - The USB port or Express Card Slot is not active. Check the Device Manager Q: The SIM card is working, so why can't GSmart MD800 make a connection? A︰Check the profile information; click Menu > Profile. See Chapter 2 for details. If profile settings are in order, the radio or network settings may need an adjustment. Click Menu > Setting. See Chapter 4 for details. If Radio and Network settings are in order, please check the signal strength indicator in the upper-left corner of the Express Card Q: Can I use GSmart MD800 Express Card on an airplane? A︰Yes, you can simply unplug GSmart MD800. It will allow you to compose messages, adjust most settings, or perform other Express Card functions. However, removing the SIM card, while keeping GSmart MD800 plugged in, is not the same as unplugging it. Removing the SIM card will cause the Express Card software to close after a few moments. You may also keep GSmart MD800 plugged in, but in Flight Mode. Click the Connection Radio icon; if the icon is light up and it means on. If the icon stays dark and it means off. And GSmart MD800 is safe for in-flight use Q︰The main screen is stuck on Initial SIM Card, what can I do? A︰Re-plug or reconnect GSmart MD800. If it does not work, restart the computer. If it does not work, check the SIM card, which may have a poor connection or be locked 7-1 MD800
