ADJUSTING THE TONEARM Adjusting the Tracking Force and the Anti-skating Force 1. Place the ANTI- SKATING WIRE into the first groove on the ANTI-SKATING CON- Anti-skating TROL NEEDLE. Place Control Needle a record disc on the PLATTER MAT and 9o° loosen the SET SCREW securing the ANTI-SKATING WIRE HOLDER. Raise the CUE lever. Move the TONEARM over the record disc and position the stylus over the first groove on the rec- Holder Set Screw Anti-skating Wire ord disc. Adjust the ANTI-SKATING WIRE so that the wire makes a right angle with the TONEARM and tighten the ANTI-SKATING WIRE HOLDER SET SCREW. 2. Adjust the COUNTERWEIGHT until the TONEARM is horizontal. When the cartridge is too heavy, install the SUB- Sub-counterweight COUNTERWEIGHT provided with this unit. Be sure to re- move the stylus guard when AjJ adjusting the COUNTER- WEIGHT. Caution: While you are adjusting the horizontal balance, hold the TON EAR M gently to prevent the stylus from being damaged. • Rear of Tonearm too Heavy 0 Turn the counterweight in the direction of the arrow, moving it forward. • Front of Tonearm too Heavy O Turn the counterweight in the direction shown, moving it toward the rear. • In Balance O 3. Turn the stylus TRACKING FORCE SCALE RING until the "0" mark is opposite the indication mark. Be careful not to disturb the horizontal balance of the COUNTERWEIGHT when making this adjustment. 4. Now set the recommended cartridge stylus tracking force by turning the COUNTERWEIGHT to the required figure on the scale ring. 5. If the COUNTER- WEIGHT is positioned in the front half of the WEIGHT SHAFT to achieve correct stylus tracking force, slide the LATERAL BALANCER away from the TONEARM towards the end of the LATERAL BAL- ANCE NEEDLE as shown. If the COUNTERWEIGHT is positioned in the middle of the WEIGHT SHAFT, slide the LATERAL BALANCER towards the center of the LATERAL BALANCE NEEDLE. If the COUNTERWEIGHT is positioned at the end of the shaft, slide the LATERAL BALANCER all the way in. Turn
the
stylus
TRACKING
FORCE
SCALE
RING
until
the
"0"
mark
is
opposite
the
indication
mark.
Be
careful
not
to
disturb
the
horizontal
balance
of
the
COUN-
TERWEIGHT
when
making
this
ad-
justment.
4.
Now
set
the
recom-
mended
cartridge
sty-
lus
tracking
force
by
turning
the
COUN-
TERWEIGHT
to
the
required
figure
on
the
scale
ring.
Force
1.
Place
the
ANTI
-
SKATING
WIRE
into
the
first
groove
on
the
ANTI
-SKATING
CON-
Anti
-skating
TROL
NEEDLE.
Place
Control
Needle
a
record
disc
on
the
PLATTER
MAT
and
9o°
loosen
the
SET
SCREW
securing
the
ANTI
-SKATING
WIRE
HOLDER.
Raise
the
CUE
lever.
Move
the
TONEARM
over
the
Holder
record
disc
and
posi-
tion
the
stylus
over
the
Set
Screw
first
groove
on
the
rec-
Anti-skating
Wire
ord
disc.
Adjust
the
ANTI
-SKATING
WIRE
so
that
the
wire
makes
a
right
angle
with
the
TONEARM
and
tighten
the
ANTI
-SKATING
WIRE
HOLDER
SET
SCREW.
2.
Adjust
the
COUNTERWEIGHT
until
the
TONEARM
is
horizontal
.
When
the
cartridge
Sub
-counterweight
is
too
heavy,
install
the
SUB
-
COUNTERWEIGHT
provided
AjJ
with
this
unit.
Be
sure
to
re-
move
the
stylus
guard
when
adjusting
the
COUNTER-
WEIGHT.
Caution:
While
you
are
adjusting
the
horizontal
balance,
hold
the
TON
EAR
M
gently
to
prevent
the
stylus
from
be-
ing
damaged.

the
counterweight
in
the
direction
of
the
arrow,
moving
it
forward.
Front
of
Tonearm
too
Heavy

Turn
the
counterweight
in
the
direction
shown,
moving
it
toward
the
rear.
In
Balance

5.
If
the
COUNTER-
WEIGHT
is
positioned
in
the
front
half
of
the
WEIGHT
SHAFT
to
achieve
correct
stylus
tracking
force,
slide
the
LATERAL
BALANCER
away
from
the
TONEARM
towards
the
end
of
the
LATERAL
BAL-
ANCE
NEEDLE
as
shown.
If
the
COUNTER-
WEIGHT
is
positioned
in
the
middle
of
the
WEIGHT
SHAFT,
slide
the
LATERAL
BALANCER
towards
the
center
of
the
LATERAL
BALANCE
NEEDLE.
If
the
COUNTER-
WEIGHT
is
positioned
at
the
end
of
the
shaft,
slide
the
LATERAL
BALANCER
all
the
way
in.
