Hard drive NOTE: The hard drive spare part kit does not include the hard drive bracket. Description 1-GB, 5400-rpm 750-GB, 5400-rpm (HP 14 and Compaq 14 models only) 750-GB, 5400-rpm (HP 240/246 and HP 245 G3 models only) 500-GB, 5400-rpm (HP 14 and Compaq 14 models only) 500-GB, 5400-rpm (HP 240/246 and HP 245 G3 models only) 500-GB, 5400-rpm, 7 mm (HP 240/246 G3 models only) Hard Drive Hardware Kit (includes bracket and screws) Spare part number 778192-005 778190-005 634250-005 778188-005 669299-005 683802-005 758615-001 Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 49), and then remove the following components: ● Service cover (see Service cover on page 55) ● Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 57) ● Top cover (see Top cover on page 60) ● USB board (see USB board on page 67 To remove the hard drive: 1. Remove the right speaker by removing the two Phillips broadhead PM2.0×2.0 screws (1), removing the speaker cable from the clips in the chassis (2), and lifting the speaker from the base enclosure (3). 68 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
