Introduction This chapter addresses the theory of operation for the copy module, the ADF, and the side HCI. The theory of operation for the print engine is covered in the printer service manual. Notes on the power switch Note Use the control panel soft switch to power off the copy module. Do not power off the copy module with the rear power switch unless the copy module will not be used for several days or will be moved to another location. To power off the copy module for an extended duration, follow these steps: 1 Switch the control panel soft switch to off. 2 Wait at least 30 minutes while the HP Color LaserJet 8550MFP cools down. Failure to allow at least 30 minutes for cooling can damage toner cartridges. 3 Switch the rear power switch to off. 4 Disconnect the power. The copy module should be relocated only by professional equipment movers. Figure 74.
