Processor socket technology ProLiant 100-series servers use Land Grid Array (LGA) socket technology to enable higher CPU bus speeds. Instead of using pins for contacts, the processor packages use gold-plated copper pads that touch processor socket pins on the motherboard. HP engineers developed a special installation tool to simplify processor installation and reduce the possibility of damage to the socket pins. Processor socket technology
ProLiant 100-series servers use Land Grid Array (LGA) socket technology to enable higher CPU bus
speeds. Instead of using pins for contacts, the processor packages use gold-plated copper pads that
touch processor socket pins on the motherboard. HP engineers developed a special installation tool to
simplify processor installation and reduce the possibility of damage to the socket pins. Table 1
identifies the processor types supported by the ProLiant 100-series models.
