Fingerprint reader board (select models only) Description Fingerprint reader board for use only on select HP ENVY 15 Computer Notebooks models Fingerprint reader board for use only on select HP ENVY 17 Computer Notebooks models Spare part number 763789-001 763711-001 Before removing the Fingerprint reader board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 42), 5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 43). 6. Remove the top cover from the base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 46). 7. Remove the WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 59). 8. Remove the subwoofer (see Subwoofer on page 63). 9. Remove the system board (see System board on page 67). Remove the fingerprint reader board and cable: 1. Disconnect the ZIF connector cable (1) that secures the fingerprint reader to the top cover. 2. Release the top cover shield (2) and (3), and then remove the fingerprint reader board (4) by lifting the board. Before removing the Fingerprint reader board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the battery (see

),

Remove the optical drive (see

).
6.
Remove the top cover from the base enclosure (see
Base enclosure
on page

).
7.
Remove the WLAN module (see

).
8.
Remove the subwoofer (see

).
9.
Remove the system board (see
System board
on page
67
).
Remove the fingerprint reader board and cable:
1.
Disconnect the ZIF connector cable
(1)
that secures the fingerprint reader to the top cover.
2.
Release the top cover shield
(2)
and
(3)
, and then remove the fingerprint reader board
(4)
by
lifting the board.
Reverse this procedure to install the fingerprint reader board and cable.
