TouchPad button board Description TouchPad button board (includes cable) Spare part number 700012-001 Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery), and then remove the following components: a. Hard drive (see Hard drive) b. Optical drive (see Optical drive) c. WLAN module (see WLAN module) d. Keyboard (see Keyboard) e. Top cover (see Top cover) Remove the TouchPad button board: 1. Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Release the ZIF connector to which the fingerprint reader board cable is attached, and then disconnect the fingerprint reader board cable (1) from the TouchPad button board. 3. Release the ZIF connector to which the TouchPad board cable is attached, and then disconnect the TouchPad board cable (2) from the TouchPad button board. 4. Detach the TouchPad button board cable (3) from the top cover. (The TouchPad button board cable is attached to the top cover with double-sided tape.) 5. Remove the three Phillips PM2.5×3.0 screws (4) that secure the TouchPad button board to the top cover. Component replacement procedures 51

Before removing the TouchPad button board, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

), and then remove the following components:

b.

c.
WLAN module (see
WLAN module
)
d.
Keyboard (see
Keyboard
)
e.
Top cover (see
Top cover
)
Remove the TouchPad button board:
1.
Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Release the ZIF connector to which the fingerprint reader board cable is attached, and then
disconnect the fingerprint reader board cable
(1)
from the TouchPad button board.
3.
Release the ZIF connector to which the TouchPad board cable is attached, and then disconnect
the TouchPad board cable
(2)
from the TouchPad button board.
4.
Detach the TouchPad button board cable
(3)
from the top cover. (The TouchPad button board
cable is attached to the top cover with double-sided tape.)
5.
Remove the three Phillips PM2.5×3.0 screws
(4)
that secure the TouchPad button board to the
top cover.
