HP Kayak XA 05xx PC Workstation -Troubleshooting Your HP PC Workstation If Your PC Workstation Has a Hardware Problem If the Flexible Disk Drive Does Not Work • Check that you are using a formatted diskette and it is inserted correctly. • Check you are using a diskette that is the correct density. • Check that the flexible disk drive is correctly configured in the Setup program (Advanced > Flexible Disk Drive). • Check that the flexible disk drive is not disabled in the Setup program (Advanced > Flexible Disk Drive). • Check that the Flexible Disks and the Write on Flexible Disks items are not set to locked in the Setup program (Security > Hardware Protection). • Clean the flexible disk drive using a diskette cleaning kit. • Check that the disk power and data cables are correctly connected. If the Hard Disk Drive Does not Work • Check that the disk power and data cables are correctly connected. • For an IDE drive, check the IDE Device's configuration settings in the Setup program (Advanced > IDE Devices). • For an IDE drive, check the Hardware Protection settings in the Setup program (Security > Hardware Protection). • For an IDE drive, check the Boot Device Security settings in the Setup program (Security > Boot Devices Security). • For a SCSI drive, check the SCSI Interface settings in the Setup program (Advanced > External/Internal 16/8 bit SCSI (Symbios) and in the SCSI Configuration Utility). If the hard disk activity light does not flicker when the PC Workstation
is accessing the hard disk drive:
