the HP NetServer LH 3 (the pedestal configuration) to the HP NetServer LH 3r (the rack-mountable configuration.) Briefly, the conversion takes several steps: 1. Gather the tools and documentation needed to perform the conversion. 2. Remove the Bezel and the Rack Rail Cover, Hard Disk Drives, and - HP LH4r | HP Netserver LH 3 Pedestal-to-Rack Guide - Page 8
Gather the tools and the setup information you need before beginning the conversion. Locate the HP NetServer where there will be sufficient space to remove the covers, power supply modules, and disk drives. If you plan on adding accessory cards or additional memory, reserve bench space at - HP LH4r | HP Netserver LH 3 Pedestal-to-Rack Guide - Page 9
all covers in place reduces critical cooling airflow over some components, such as hard disk drives and processor modules. Operating the system without all covers in place may result in failure of these components. The HP NetServer LH 3 must have its covers in place for proper cooling. LH 3r conversion. To remove the Rack Rail Cover, first unlock the bezel, using the supplied key, and remove it from the front of the NetServer. This will lighten the NetServer so fewer people will be needed to lift it. CAUTION The HP NetServer LH 3r weighs up to 160 pounds - HP LH4r | HP Netserver LH 3 Pedestal-to-Rack Guide - Page 13
to disengage the power connection. 3. Use your hand to support the bottom of the drive. Slowly pull the drive straight out. Do not allow the drive to fall. 4. Chapter 2 Removing LH 3 Covers and Components Removing Power Supply Modules To remove the Power Supply Modules, unscrew the modules and pull them away from the NetServer, as shown in Figure 2-4. Chapter 3 Installing LH 3r Components Reorienting the Control Panel The control positions for the reinstallation of the control panel, depending in which rack the NetServer will reside.
