Chapter 2 Connecting and Routing Cables to the HP NetServer LH 4r NOTE As shown in Table 2-2, if you locate the PDU behind the HP NetServer LH 4r, HP Rack Storage/12, HP Rack Storage/8 or HP NetServer LH 3r, then the hot-swappable power supplies (or sometimes the fans) designed for access and replacement from the rear of the rack will not be easily accessible. If you locate the PDU behind the HP NetServer LXr Pro8 or the HP FiberChannel 30, there will be mechanical conflicts when units are extended out the rear of the rack for service. You may only locate a PDU horizontally behind the HP NetServer LPr if you use the bracket provided with the unit. 2. Orient the PDU horizontally so receptacles face rearward toward the outside of the rack. Hold the PDU at the location you choose. Note where the bracket will align with its hex nuts. See Figure 2-4. Figure 2-4. Mounting the PDU Horizontally 3. Insert screws through the mounting brackets of the PDU, then through the vertical column mounting holes, and into the hex nuts supplied, and tighten them to secure the unit to the rack columns (see Figure 2-4). 21

As shown in Table 2-2, if you locate the PDU behind the HP
NetServer LH 4r, HP Rack Storage/12, HP Rack Storage/8 or
HP NetServer LH 3r, then the hot-swappable power supplies
(or sometimes the fans) designed for access and replacement
from the rear of the rack will not be easily accessible.
If you locate the PDU behind the HP NetServer LXr Pro8 or
the HP FiberChannel 30, there will be mechanical conflicts
when units are extended out the rear of the rack for service.
You may only locate a PDU horizontally behind the HP
NetServer LPr if you use the bracket provided with the unit.
2.
Orient the PDU horizontally so receptacles face rearward toward the
outside of the rack. Hold the PDU at the location you choose. Note
where the bracket will align with its hex nuts. See Figure 2-4.
