Chapter 2 Connecting and Routing Cables to the HP NetServer LH 4r CAUTION Orient the star-washer on the hex nut toward the painted surface of the rack. Tighten the screw and nut sufficiently to cause the star washers to pierce the paint and bring the lock washer teeth in contact with metal. This ensures that the rack-to-ground connection to the PDU is made. Mounting the PDU Vertically NOTE When mounted vertically, the PDU mounting holes line up with holes in the second row of mounting holes, not the "EIA Unit" row of holes in the vertical face. See Figure 2-5. Installation Steps To mount a PDU vertically, follow these steps: 1. Locate the PDU on the side of the rack opposite the cable guide. Avoid the door latch near the center of the rack. The receptacles of the PDU should face inward, not rearward. (If they face rearward, the PDU receptacles will be blocked by the rack side panels when the rack is fully assembled.) The power cord input (and the two "reset" buttons) will be on the lower end of the PDU when it is in the correct position. Figure 2-5. Mounting the PDU Vertically 22
