HP StorageWorks MSL4048 tape library NOTE: HP recommends that you cable Port A only and that you configure Port B for Auto Detect on Fibre Speed and Port Type. 1. Highlight Configuration -> Drive 1 and press OK. 2. Enter the Administrative password if prompted. 3. Use the navigation buttons to move to the Port A Fibre Speed. Press OK. 4. Use the navigation buttons to change the value of the highlighted field (Auto Detect, 1 Gb or 2 Gb). When the highlighted field shows the desired value, press OK. 5. Use the navigation buttons to move to the Port A Type field and repeat Step 4 to specify the port type (Auto Detect, Fabric (N) or Loop (NL)) 6. If you have selected Fabric (N) or Auto Detect, configuration is now complete, go to Step 8. a. If you selected port type Loop (NL), move to the Port A Loop Mode field and repeat Step 4 to specify the required mode (Soft, Hard or Hard Auto Select). 7. If you have selected Soft or Hard Auto Select, configuration is now complete, go to Step 8. a. If you have selected Hard, use the navigation buttons to move to the Port A ALPA field and repeat Step 4 to specify the address. 8. Use the navigation buttons to select Port B Fibre Speed and Port B Type, making sure they are set to Auto Detect. 9. If you have selected Fabric (N) or Auto Detect, configuration is now complete, go to Step 8.

If you selected port type Loop (NL), move to the
Port A Loop Mode
field and repeat Step 4 to
specify the required mode (Soft, Hard or Hard Auto Select).

If you have selected Soft or Hard Auto Select, configuration is now complete, go to Step 8.
