1 Overview HP StorageWorks MSL2024 and MSL4048 Fibre Channel (FC) tape libraries allow you to install the tape library into a SAN environment. They are compatible with most operating systems and environments that support the FC interface. However, the library requires direct support from the operating system or a compatible backup application to take full advantage of its many features. The HP StorageWorks MSL2024 and MSL4048 Fibre Channel libraries are available in the following configurations: MSL2024 tape library • MSL2024 tape library with one full-height Ultrium 960 Fibre Channel drive MSL4048 tape library • MSL4048 tape library with one full-height Ultrium 960 Fibre Channel drive • MSL4048 tape library with two full-height Ultrium 960 Fibre Channel drives All tape libraries have a barcode reader, removable magazines, and are customer expandable with exchangeable drives. Customer replaceable parts are the drives, chassis, and magazines. Replaceable parts that are specific to the MSL4048 tape library model are the library controller and power supply.
