Removing or replacing the vanity cover CAUTION: To prevent information loss or an unresponsive system: Save your work and shut down the computer before adding or replacing a memory module or hard drive. If you are not sure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on by sliding the power switch. Then shut down the computer through the operating system. Removing the vanity cover Remove the vanity cover to access the memory module slot, hard drive, regulatory label, and other components. To remove the vanity cover: 1. Remove the battery (1) (refer to Removing the battery on page 25). 2. Slide the release latch (2) to the right to release the vanity cover. 3. Lift the back edge (3) of the vanity cover, and then remove the cover (4) from the computer. Replacing the vanity cover Replace the vanity cover after accessing the memory module slot, hard drive, regulatory label, and other components. To replace the vanity cover: 1. Insert the 4 tabs on the front edge of the vanity cover (1) into the 4 slots in the base. 2. Rotate the back edge (2) of the vanity cover downward, and then firmly press the cover down until it snaps into place. 26 Chapter 6 Maintenance

Removing the vanity cover
Remove the vanity cover to access the memory module slot, hard drive, regulatory label, and other
components.
To remove the vanity cover:
1.
Remove the battery

2.
Slide the release latch

to the right to release the vanity cover.
3.
Lift the back edge

of the vanity cover, and then remove the cover

from the computer.
Replacing the vanity cover
Replace the vanity cover after accessing the memory module slot, hard drive, regulatory label, and
other components.
To replace the vanity cover:
