Installing Windows XP Installing Retail Windows XP (Omnibook XE4400) Updating wireless LAN support (LAN Express) Windows XP contains the necessary drivers for the wireless LAN hardware that may be installed on your HP notebook. Note that some HP notebooks are not equipped with wireless LAN. To install wireless LAN support: 1. Open the start menu by clicking the Start button in the bottom left corner of the screen. Right click on My Computer and then select Manage. This opens the notebook management console. 2. In the left pane of the management console select Device Manager. 3. In the right pane you should see a device listed as: ?!Network Controller under ?Other Devices. 4. Right click on Network Controller and then select Update Driver. 5. Select Install From List, then click Next. 6. Select Don't Search..., then click Next. 7. Click Have Disk, then Browse. Navigate to the wireless directory, then click Open and OK. 8. Click Next to install the driver. 9. Click Finish to exit the installation and close the windows of the Computer Management screen. 10. Run setup.exe from the wireless driver directory, then follow the displayed instructions. Reboot the computer when prompted. This installs the wireless LAN management and configuration utility. Installing HP notebook utilities The HP notebook utilities include HP Configuration interface, HP RF Manager, HP Display Settings, HP TV Now, HP Quick Lock and HP Battery Optimizer. To install these utilities: 1. Run setup.exe from the hpnbutil driver directory. 2. Click Next and then Yes to accept the License Agreement. 3. Updating wireless LAN support (LAN Express)
Windows XP contains the necessary drivers for the wireless LAN hardware that may be
installed on your HP notebook. Note that some HP notebooks are not equipped with
wireless LAN. To install wireless LAN support:
1.
Open the start menu by clicking the Start button in the bottom left corner of the
screen.
Right click on My Computer and then select Manage.
This opens the
notebook management console.
2.
In the left pane of the management console select Device Manager.
3.
In the right pane you should see a device listed as: ?!Network Controller under
?Other Devices.
4.
Right click on Network Controller and then select Update Driver.
5.
Select Install From List, then click Next.
6.
Select Don’t Search..., then click Next.
7.

Click Next to install the driver.
9.

Installing HP notebook utilities
