5. Carefully lift the processor from the socket (5). IMPORTANT: Do not handle the pins in the processor socket. These pins are fragile, and handling them could cause irreparable damage. If pins are damaged, you might have to replace the system board. The heat sink must be installed within 24 hours of installing the processor to prevent damage to the processor's solder connections. To replace the processor, reverse the removal procedures. NOTE: After installing a new processor onto the system board, always update the system ROM to ensure that the latest version of the BIOS is being used on the computer. You can find the latest system BIOS on the web at: https://support.hp.com/us-en. Power supply To remove the power supply, use these procedures. NOTE: All power supply spare part kits include replacement thermal material. NOTE: System board appearance can vary. Before removing the power supply, follow these steps: 1.
