Removal and Replace Procedures Removing and Installing the Diffuser Card Before removing the diffuser card from the server, perform the following tasks: 1. Power down the server. 2. Detach all power cables from the server. 3. Remove the diffuser card by grasping the edge and pulling it out of the server. Use care to avoid hitting any components on the core I/O card. Step 4. Reinstall the diffuser card. To replace a Core I/O card, perform the following steps: 1. Insert the diffuser into its slot and slide it into the cardcage, making sure the foam is on the bottom side of the diffuser and is not obstructed by components on the core I/O card. 2. Press the diffuser into the cardcage until the foam is wedged between the second and third slots in the cardcage. Step 5. Reinstall the side cover. Replace the side cover according to the following steps: 1. Grasp the strap handle and insert the tabbed end of the cover into the server chassis slots on the right side of the side service bay. 2. Carefully, push the cover into the side service bay opening ensuring that the foam-metal gasketing material seats correctly and completely around the side cover. 3. Tighten the captive T-15 screws that hold the side cover in place. Figure 2-8 Side Cover with Captive Screws Chapter 2 39
