3-20 3-21 3-22 H Slide belt over motor shaft (H). Align belt between "U" shaped posts. Reposition hood and replace 2 hood screws. With bottom of cleaner facing up, replace 2 bottom screws. 3-23 The agitator brushroll When to replace When agitator brushroll brushes are worn, the agitator brushroll should be replaced. Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet. WARNING: Agitator brushroll can start suddenly. Unplug cleaner before turning it over. What to buy When purchasing a new agitator, ask for HOOVER part No. 2BEA131001900. To check condition of brushes, move edge of a card across bottom plate while turning agitator brushroll. To maintain cleaning effectiveness, replace agitator brushroll if brushes do not touch card. To remove agitator, follow Items 3-10 through 3-15. Install new agitator brushroll following Items 3-18 through 3-22. Lubrication The motor is equipped with bearings that contain sufficient lubrication for the life of the motor. The addition of lubricant could cause damage. Therefore, do not add lubricant to motor bearings. The agitator brushroll is equipped with two ball bearings that should be lubricated periodically by a Hoover Sales and Service Center or an Authorized Hoover Warranty Service Dealer. Continued ➜ 11
