Removing the side cover To remove the side cover of the computer, complete the following steps: 1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 29. 2. Turn off the computer and all attached devices (see "Turning off the computer" on page 18); then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. 3. Unlock the side cover. 4. Press down on the cover-release handle; then, pull the cover straight up. Lift the side cover off the computer and set it aside. Cover-release handle Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the cover before turning on the computer. Operating the computer with the cover removed might damage computer components.
