14 UPDATING THE FIRMWARE ■ General The IC-7600's firmware can be updated if desired. By updating the firmware, new function(s) can be added and the improvement of performance parameters can be obtained. Refer to ■ Preparation (p. 163) and ■ Firmware update (p. 164) for details. The downloaded firmware data (e.g. 7600_110.dat) should be copied to the USB-Memory (in "IC-7600" Ask your dealer or distributor about how to update the firmware if you have no PC. folder) using an available USB port (USB hub may be required; purchased separately from your PC dealer). ■ Caution 1 CAUTION: NEVER turn the transceiver power OFF 2 while updating the firmware. You can turn the transceiver power OFF only when 3 the transceiver displays that rebooting is required. If you turn the transceiver power OFF, or if a power 4 failure occurs during updating, the transceiver firmware will be corrupted and you will have to send the 5 transceiver back to the nearest Icom distributor for repair. This type of repair is out of warranty even if 6 the warranty period is still valid. 7 Recommendation! Backing up the settings and/or memory contents to 8 the USB-Memory before starting the firmware update is recommended. 9 Settings and/or memory contents will be lost or returned to default settings when the firmware update is performed. 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 162
