SPECIFICATIONS AND OPTIONS 10 ■■ Using the HM-213 Alligator type clip To attach the speaker microphone 1 to your shirt or collar. 2 PTT switch Push to transmit. 3 Release to receive. Microphone 4 Speaker 5 Turn the transceiver power OFF when connecting the HM-213. 6 NOTE: 7 ••NEVER immerse the connector in water. If the connector becomes wet, BE SURE to dry it before attaching to the transceiver. 8 ••The microphone element is located at the top of the speaker microphone, as shown in the illustration above. To maximize the readability of your transmitted audio, hold the 9 microphone approximately 5 ~ 10 cm (2 ~ 4 inches) from your mouth, and then speak at your normal voice level. 10 DDAttaching the HM-213 11 1. Turn OFF the power. 12 2. Insert the speaker microphone connector into the [SP/MIC] connector and securely screw it, as shown below. 13 LL Be careful not to cross-thread the connection. 14 CAUTION: Attach the speaker microphone's connector securely to prevent accidental loss, or water intrusion into the connector. 15 Detaching: Rotate the [SP/MIC] cap counter- 16 clockwise, and then detach it. 17 18 Attaching: Attach the [SP/MIC] cap, and then rotate it clockwise completely. NOTE: KEEP the transceiver's [SP/MIC] cap attached when the speaker microphone is not used. If the cover is not attached, water will get into the transceiver. Moreover, the terminals (pins) will become rusty, or the transceiver will function abnormally if the connector gets wet. 23

Attaching the HM-213
1.
Turn OFF the power.

the transceiver’s [SP/MIC] cap attached when the speaker microphone
is not used. If the cover is not attached, water will get into the transceiver. Moreover,
the terminals (pins) will become rusty, or the transceiver will function abnormally if the
connector gets wet.
CAUTION:
Attach the speaker microphone’s connector securely to
prevent accidental loss, or water intrusion into the connector.
Detaching:
Rotate the [SP/MIC] cap counter-
clockwise, and then detach it.
Attaching:
Attach the [SP/MIC] cap, and then
rotate it clockwise completely.
