68 EN TROUBLESHOOTING If, after following the steps in the chart below, the problem still exists, please consult your nearest JVC dealer. The camcorder is a microcomputer-controlled device. External noise and interference (from a TV, a radio, etc.) might prevent it from functioning properly. In such cases, first disconnect its power supply unit (battery pack, AC Adapter, etc.) and wait a few minutes; and then re-connect it and proceed as usual from the beginning. SYMPTOM 1 No power is supplied. POSSIBLE CAUSES • The power is not connected properly. • The battery is dead. CORRECTIVE ACTION • Connect the AC Adapter securely (੬ pg. 9). • Replace the dead battery with a fully charged one (੬ pg. 8, 9). 2 "SET DATE/TIME!" appears. • The date/time is not set. • The built-in clock battery has run out and the previously set date/time has been erased. • Set the date/time (੬ pg. 11). • Consult your nearest JVC dealer for replacement. 3 Recording cannot be performed. - For Tape Recording - • The tape's erase protection tab is set to "SAVE". • The Power Switch is set to "PLAY" or "OFF". • The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch is set to "MEMORY". • "TAPE END" appears. • The cassette holder cover is open. - For Memory Card Recording - • The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch is set to "VIDEO". • Set the tape's erase protection tab to "REC" (੬ pg. 12). • Set the Power Switch to " AUTO " or " MANUAL " (੬ pg. 17). • Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch to "VIDEO". • Replace with new cassette (੬ pg. 12). • Close the cassette holder cover. • Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch to "MEMORY". 4 There is no picture. • The camcorder is not getting power, • Turn the camcorder's power off and or some other malfunction exists. on again (੬ pg. 17). 5 The focus does not adjust automatically. • Focus is set to the Manual mode. • The recording was done in a dark place, or the contrast was low. • The lens is dirty or covered with condensation. • Set Focus to the Auto mode (੬ pg. 41). • Clean the lens and check the focus again (੬ pg. 74).

TROUBLESHOOTING
• The power is not connected
properly.
• The battery is dead.
• The date/time is not set.
• The built-in clock battery has run
out and the previously set date/time
has been erased.
— For Tape Recording —
• The tape’s erase protection tab is
set to “SAVE”.
• The Power Switch is set to “PLAY”
or “OFF”.
• The
VIDEO/MEMORY
Switch is set
to “MEMORY”.
• “TAPE END” appears.
• The cassette holder cover is open.
— For Memory Card Recording —
• The
VIDEO/MEMORY
Switch is set
to “VIDEO”.
• The camcorder is not getting power,
or some other malfunction exists.
• Focus is set to the Manual mode.
• The recording was done in a dark
place, or the contrast was low.
• The lens is dirty or covered with
