Replacing the hard disk drive Attention: Do not remove the computer cover or attempt any repairs before reading the "Important safety information" in the Safety and Warranty Guide that was included with your computer or in the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) for the computer. To obtain copies of the Safety and Warranty Guide or HMM, go to the Support Web site at: http://support.lenovo.com This section provides instructions on how to replace the hard disk drive. To replace the hard disk drive, do the following. 1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or other flat surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay it down so that the screen is resting on the towel or cloth and the cover is facing up. 3. Remove the computer stand. See "Removing and reattaching the frame stand", "Removing and reattaching the monitor stand", or "Removing and reattaching the transformer stand". 4. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover". 5. Remove the hard disk drive assembly as shown. 6. Disconnect the cables from the hard disk drive. User Guide 37

To replace the hard disk drive, do the following.
1.
Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the
