Windows and messages might differ from those in this document. 1.0 What you will need You must have the following software and hardware for the installation: • A licensed copy of Microsoft® Windows Server® 2003 or Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 • USB diskette drive and the RAID device driver diskette (Windows 2003 only). (To create this diskette, see 3.1 Creating a RAID device driver diskette.) • A USB media device containing a RAID device driver might be required (Windows Server 2008 only). • Depending on your server, an external DVD reader device might be required. • Supported hard disk drives. Go to http://www.lenovo.com/thinkserver/ for the Lenovo® ThinkServer® Proven list of supported options and part numbers for the server. You will need to set up the logical drive array before installing the operating system.
