MS-7267 Mainboard DM A Resource Setup Press to enter the sub-menu. DMA Channel 0/1/3/5/6/7 These items specify the bus that the system DMA (Direct Memory Access) channel is using. The settings determine if BIOS should remove a DMA from the available DMAs passed to devices that are configurable by the system BIOS. The available DMA pool is determined by reading the ESCD NVRAM. If more DMAs must be removed from the pool, the end user can reserve the DMA. Important IRQ (Interrupt Request) lines are system resources allocated to I/O devices. When an I/O device needs to gain attention of the operating system, it signals this by causing an IRQ to occur. After receiving the signal, when the operating system is ready, the system will interrupt itself and perform the service required by the I/O device. 3-18
